Now that we’re well into 2026, it feels like the perfect time to look back on the homes we built last year – and share what we’re most excited about for the year ahead.
2025 was a standout year for residential design. Across the homes we worked on, there was a clear focus on creating spaces that feel both personal and purposeful. Natural inspired finishes, warm earthy tones, and organic textures were everywhere, bringing a sense of calm and connection into everyday living. Timber, stone, and natural materials were used in ways that grounded each home, making spaces feel inviting, timeless, and lived-in.
Outdoor living also took centre stage. Families wanted seamless indoor–outdoor flow, so covered alfresco areas, outdoor kitchens, and landscaped spaces became key features in many of our projects. Here in the Waikato, where summer is made for being outside, these thoughtful outdoor spaces really came to life.
Technology became smarter and simpler. Home automation in 2025 wasn’t about flashy gadgets – it was about integration that works quietly in the background. Smart lighting, discreet controls, and centralised systems enhanced everyday life while keeping the clean lines and architectural integrity of each home intact. At the same time, design palettes shifted from cool greys to warmer tones, layered textures, and softer finishes that made spaces feel calm, welcoming, and full of character.
Looking ahead, 2026 promises to take these ideas even further. Homeowners are seeking spaces that are deeply personal, with bespoke layouts, custom joinery, and material choices that tell their own story. Sustainability will continue to grow in importance, with homes designed to perform efficiently through passive design, higher-spec insulation, integrated solar, and clever ventilation systems.
Flexibility remains a key focus. Rooms that can evolve with family life – from home offices that double as guest suites to media rooms that transform into entertaining hubs – are more in demand than ever. And we’re seeing an uprise in bold, tactile materials: fluted stone, oversized tiles, ribbed cabinetry, and other crafted finishes that add personality and depth to every home.
Outdoor architecture is also evolving. Landscaped decks, fire features, and structured alfresco areas are blurring the line between inside and out, creating spaces that are functional, beautiful, and built to be lived in.
Reflecting on 2025 reminds us why we do what we do: creating homes that are built to last, crafted with care, and designed around the people who live in them. As we move through 2026, that focus hasn’t changed – we’re here to deliver homes that look incredible, feel perfectly suited to your lifestyle, and sit beautifully in their surroundings.
If you’re planning a build this year, we’d love to help bring your vision to life. Your home should be thoughtful and uniquely yours.
