We are thrilled to share that Nixon Homes has achieved an outstanding victory at the 2025 House of the Year National Awards. Our project, Kōtare Grove on Rangitahi Peninsula, Raglan, won both the National Category: New Home $750,000 – $1 million and the National Supreme House of the Year Under $1 million.
This recognition comes after a strong regional performance earlier in the year, where Kōtare Grove also impressed the judges with its craftsmanship, design, and considered approach to coastal living. To be acknowledged at a national level among New Zealand’s best builders is an incredible achievement for our entire team.
A Build That Reflects Care, Craftsmanship, and Coastal Living
Kōtare Grove is a standout project for us, a beautifully executed home that brings together coastal style, smart design, and practical everyday living. Every detail was carefully considered: from the layout and material selections to the finishing work completed by our skilled team and trusted subcontractors.
The judges praised the build for its attention to detail, execution of construction, and the way the home sits seamlessly within its coastal environment at Rangitahi Peninsula.
Judges’ Comments
The judges described Kōtare Grove as: “Confident and finely made, this home delivers real architecture within a disciplined budget. Three discrete pavilions are cleanly linked by decks, stairs and covered walkways, giving a strong street presence without excess. Steel cladding and timber shiplap bring durability and warmth, while the outdoor planning is smart: a sheltered street-side court for everyday use and a generous view-facing deck with clear zones for dining and lounging. Inside, rooms are arranged to capture rural vistas and flow effortlessly outdoors. The detailing is tidy, the materials are honest, and the result feels both robust and refined. It sets a benchmark for what can be achieved under $1 million, a thoroughly deserving Supreme winner.”
